AI search visibility for UK wedding suppliers: how to check it and improve it

Which sources the assistants actually lean on for British venues and photographers, why the American advice sends you to the wrong platforms, and what one of the four services did instead of answering the question at all.

Almost everything written about AI visibility for wedding suppliers is written for the American market. It tells you to keep a storefront on The Knot and WeddingWire, and it is not wrong exactly, it is just not about you.

This page is about what the four assistants actually say when the question is British, based on questions asked three times each to Perplexity, ChatGPT with web search, Gemini and Claude in September 2026.

What the answers are built from in the UK

When the question was how a wedding venue gets recommended by ChatGPT in the UK, the useful answers pointed at the same two names. Hitched and Bridebook, described as the prominent sources for venue discovery, reviews, filters and enquiries. One answer added The Knot UK and WeddingWire alongside them.

That is a genuinely different list from the one the same services give for the Nordic and German markets, where photographer directories such as MyWed, Wezoree, WPJA and TheWed dominate the citations and none of the British platforms appear.

The mechanism is identical everywhere. The sources are local. Copying a checklist written in Texas will have a supplier in Yorkshire paying for the wrong listing.

One of the four did not answer the question

Worth recording, because it says something about how much weight to give any single answer. Asked how a UK venue gets recommended, one service replied by asking for the location, the venue type, the capacity, the unique features and the target audience, and offered to craft a marketing message. It never addressed the question.

Another said plainly that you cannot pay for placement, which is true and is the most useful sentence any of them produced. There is no advertising slot in an AI recommendation. There is only being describable.

What the services told UK photographers to do

The same question for photographers produced a wide spread in quality. One service recommended checking rankings in SEMrush, Ahrefs and Moz, which are search engine tools that do not measure AI answers at all. Another described the manual logged out method properly. A third recommended a named AI visibility tool for wedding suppliers, with specifics about how many prompts it runs.

Take that last one seriously in both directions. It shows the assistants will happily recommend a tool by name in this category, which is worth knowing if you sell one. It also shows they will recommend the tool that has written the most about itself, which is not the same as the best tool.

British words, British questions

A small thing that matters more than it should. In the United Kingdom the trade calls itself suppliers, not vendors. Couples search for a wedding venue in a county, not a state. They ask about a barn, a manor, a marquee, a registry office.

If your site uses American vocabulary because you copied a template, you are slightly harder to match to the question. The fix is free and takes an afternoon.

What I have measured, and what I have not

Being straight about the limits of this page. The twenty three wedding businesses measured so far are in Sweden, Norway, Germany, Belgium and Canada. None of them is a British supplier. What is above comes from questions about the UK market rather than from measuring a UK business.

So the findings about which directories the answers lean on are solid, because that is what the answers said. Anything about how a British supplier performs is not yet measured, and I am not going to put a number on it until it is. If you are a UK supplier, running the free check gives you a real data point and it gives me one too.

Three things to do this week

Claim and complete the two that matter. Hitched and Bridebook, with capacity, price range, location and photographs. These are the pages the answers are being built from in your market.

Write the county into your text. Not the region as a marketing abstraction. The actual county and the nearest city, in body text, on the pages that matter.

Test it yourself, three times. Logged out, in ChatGPT and Perplexity, on the questions a couple in your county would type. The answers move between runs, so once is not a measurement. There is a longer guide in the free way to check, and a category page for venues.

Questions people ask next

Which directories matter for UK wedding suppliers in AI answers?

Hitched and Bridebook came back repeatedly when the four services were asked how a UK venue gets recommended, and one of them named both directly as prominent sources for venue discovery, reviews and enquiries. The Knot UK and WeddingWire also appeared. What matters is that this list is specific to the United Kingdom. In answers about the Swedish and German markets none of these appeared at all.

Is AI visibility different in the UK than in the United States?

The mechanism is the same and the sources are not. Both markets get answers assembled from directories, reviews and editorial features, but which directories carry weight is local. Most advice published on this subject is written for the American market, so a British supplier following it will spend effort on platforms that the answers in their own market barely cite.

Can I check my AI visibility as a UK supplier without paying for anything?

Yes. Ask the questions a couple in your county would type, in a logged out window, in at least two services, three times each, and write down whether your name comes back. The free check on this site does a smaller version of that automatically in about a minute. Either way the important part is asking more than once, because the answers move between runs.

Do the assistants even understand the question?

Not always, and it is worth knowing. When asked how a wedding venue gets recommended by ChatGPT in the UK, one of the four services did not answer at all. It asked for the location, venue type, capacity and target audience and offered to write marketing copy instead. That is a reminder that these systems are not oracles, and that what they say about themselves should be checked rather than believed.
