How can a wedding DJ show up in AI answers?

No DJ has been measured yet, so this page says that plainly. What it does have is what the four assistants tell DJs to do today, checked against measurements of twenty three other wedding businesses, and which parts transfer.

Start with the honest part. No wedding DJ has been measured yet. Twenty three wedding businesses have gone through the full measurement so far, and they are photographers, a venue, planners, a florist and a couple of others. Not one DJ, not one band.

Every other page on this site is built on numbers from the category it describes. This one cannot be, so it will not pretend to be. What follows is what the four assistants tell DJs to do today, and which of the findings from other categories are likely to hold.

What the assistants tell DJs today

On 9 September 2026 I asked all four services how a wedding DJ shows up in AI recommendations, three times each. They agree on the broad strokes: keep your business details identical everywhere, claim your Google Business Profile, collect reviews, write service pages rather than one page about everything, and answer the questions couples ask instead of describing your vibe.

One answer said something sharper than the rest, and it is worth quoting because it matches what the measurements show elsewhere.

Generic five star reviews contribute less than detailed reviews that name the service, the venue and the specific outcome.

That is the same principle that decides everything else in this data. An assistant cannot use praise. It can use a sentence with a place, a service and a name in it, because that is a sentence it can quote.

What almost certainly transfers

Three findings have held in every category measured so far, across twenty three businesses and four services, and there is no obvious reason DJs would be the exception.

The services do not read the same things. Gemini named businesses most often across the whole set and returned almost no readable sources. Perplexity cited the measured business own website hundreds of times. If that pattern holds for DJs, your own site is the lever for one of them and useless for the other.

Near misses are common and invisible if you measure once. Appearing in one run out of three happened constantly. A tool that asks a question a single time reports those as wins or losses depending on the day.

The money questions go unanswered. In every category the questions about price, venue and specifics were the ones nobody surfaced on, while broad questions about style were easier. Those are also the questions asked by couples who are ready to book.

What I would guess, and mark as a guess

DJs may depend more on entertainment directories and venue recommended supplier lists than photographers do, because there is less independent editorial writing about DJs than about photography. That is a reasonable inference from how venue answers behaved. It is not a measurement, and I will not put a number on it until a DJ has been through the process.

Be the first one measured

The free check asks four questions a couple in your city could type, to ChatGPT and Perplexity, and shows whether your name comes back. It takes about a minute. If you want the full version, twenty questions built from your own site, four services, three runs each, that is what turns this page into a page with real DJ numbers on it. You can read how the measurement works or look at an example report first.

Questions florists ask next

Have you measured a wedding DJ?

Not yet. Twenty three wedding businesses have been measured so far and none of them is a DJ or a band. Rather than dress up numbers from other categories as if they were about DJs, this page says which findings transfer and which are guesses. If you are a DJ, the free check will give you your own numbers in about a minute, and they will be better than anything on this page.

Do reviews help a DJ get named by AI?

The assistants say so, and one of them said something more specific that is worth repeating: a generic five star review counts for less than a detailed one that names the service, the venue and what actually happened. That is consistent with what the measurements show in other categories, where being describable in words is what separates the businesses that get named.

Is this different for a band than for a DJ?

Probably in the questions rather than the method. Couples ask for a band and a DJ in different words, at different budgets, and often at different stages of planning. The measurement would use different questions for each, which is the point of building the questions from your own site rather than from a template.

What would you measure first for a DJ?

The questions with money in them, because those are the ones that go unanswered in every category measured so far. What a wedding DJ costs in your city, whether you also act as master of ceremonies, which venues you have played, and how late you can play. Those are questions with a booking behind them.
